Map: Badwater Basin. Payload.

BLU operations in the area have met with horrific resistance from RED of late. Steps, as they say, had to be taken. When the intelligence reports last filched from under RED's nose indicated the RED team had concentrated vast quantities of infrastructure in a single location accessible by rail from an old, forgotten BLU listening post...

Well. Who are the BLU field operatives to ignore an opportunity dropped in their lap?

Time for some serious mayhem.

"As far as gadgets go, non." The sapper gets added back to the stack of them before he heads over to the weapon rack and pulls down two of the tools.

"Your weapons are zhese: zee Colt Python and zee knife." The Spy plays with the latter a bit, expertly flipping it open and closed again.

"Do not underestimate zee latter. A knife to zee back iz an excellent way to kill people."

"Whoa!" Yipes the Scout as the syringes hit him, stumbling. Between the needles and the bullets, he isn't feeling too hot here. Also, his Scattergun just went empty.

"Get lost, Doc! Ain't no one asked you to join this party," Scout snaps, dodging behind the Heavy's bulk.

Of course, he's still trying to beat the man's skull in with the bat he just pulled out.

You mean like that other BLU Pyro that's just joined them from the rear?

That's right, you imbeciles. You all just keep focusing on that turret up there while the Spyro gets behind whoever's in the rear.

Luckily, the Heavy packed his shotgun instead of his sandvich today, because he just ran out of bullets for his minigun.

He can't find it, though, and he's got to produce a weapon fast. Otherwise, he'll be toast before you can even say 'Kremlin.'

Hopefully his dusty old pair of boxing gloves will do just as well as anything else.

There's a very satisfying fa-thoom! from up ahead, and the sound of an angry Engineer running down with his wrench in hand. "Anozzer one, I sink," says the Medic, glancing briefly over his shoulder before looking ahead once more. What? It's a Pyro. There's always Pyros.

[identity profile] hands-of-blu.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
The Medic, for his part, is concentrating on that Scout. "Hold still, Schweinhund, this will only sting for a moment," he mutters. It's not as if the syringes will hurt his teammate, after all.

[identity profile] uncloakndagger.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
It's a reflex! Someone's tryin' to shoot ya, ya gotta get behind the biggest thing around. Right now, that's fatty here.

Seriously, though, man, note to self: reload before taking on a frickin' Heavy.

"Ooo, pair of gloves, real scary! Got a little froofy dress in your pocket, too, tubs-o-fun?"

Scout talks big, but he isn't going to last much longer. Two against one, man, totally unfair.

[identity profile] crysomemore.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes! Vill fit perfectly on leetle man like you! Vould you like to see it?"

Heavy's had some practice against the Scouts, it's true. One false move, and it's sayonara to his face. For now, though, the Heavy's just dealing a volley of punches, which are... less than accurate.

[identity profile] uncloakndagger.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
There's plenty of RED targets out on the battlefield today. A Demoman is lining the tracks with a series of sticky bombs, a Heavy rounds the corner towards the tunnel, a Soldier rocket jumps through the air towards BLU base. Pyros scurry here and there, flaming everything in sight while fast moving Scouts blow away the slower moving classes.

Decisions, decisions.

[identity profile] hands-of-blu.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
If the Heavy's taking action, Medic might as well just switch off. The blutsauger is going away and the medigun is coming out. It's what he's here for, after all.

And don't think he's not keeping an eye on that ubercharge meter, either.

[identity profile] uncloakndagger.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Aw crap, man. Tell him he can least take the Heavy out with him? Before the Medic heals him too much?

"Just die already, man!" Scout shrieks as bludgeons as fast as humanly possible.

[identity profile] crysomemore.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Which is pretty fast--so fast that even the medigun can't be much help without an uber.

The Heavy fights valiantly against death and the Scout, but eventually even that doesn't do much good, and he falls to the ground in almost slow motion, gurgling and screaming "NOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

[identity profile] hands-of-blu.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's just not a good thing.

... for the Scout. Because Medic? A, is pretty fast- not as fast as the Scout, but pretty fast- and B, has his Ubersaw out.

"Prepare for your examination," he says before lunging at the RED, saw first.

Payload it Forward

[identity profile] crysomemore.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
The Heavy respawns after his ill-fated bout with the Scout, and makes for the payload. When he gets to the tunnel and realizes that it has effectively stopped moving, he begins calling to any BLU teammate that will listen. "Argh! Cart is not moving!" he calls, frustrated. "WE MUST PUSH LEETLE KART!!"

[identity profile] uncloakndagger.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Holy crap! He killed him! Wasn't expecting that!

He isn't really expecting the Medic to lunge for him either.

"YIIIAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!"

Scout's death screams are so high-pitched.

[identity profile] crysomemore.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
None at all... until he gets to the real war zone, at least.

"Move it, maggots!"

Spy rather enjoys the fact that BLUs can be rather predictable.

[identity profile] crysomemore.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Eh? You! Vhere you come from so fast, eh?" The Heavy's a little suspicious, especially after finding out that the 'Engineer' in Milliways was more than met his two little eyes.

Hey, they don't know that for certain.

(Do they?)

"Just respawned, Private!" Barks the Spy!Soldier. "Those RED team ladies are going to regret ever being BORN!"

Downside of pretending to be a Soldier? All the yelling you have to do.

Teja shoots another rocket, quickly, at the same target. It seems to be working.

The recoil from the rocket launcher is entirely something else; but he can stand it, just as he could stand catching spears with his shield that flew at him with their momentum yet unspent.

It is the same bracing of the spine against the slam of incoming force.

They don't know for sure, no, but it doesn't make the Heavy any less suspicious. Fortunately for the Spy, he's not about to waste precious bullets on a teammate -- that's the Pyro's job.

The Heavy laughs, loudly. "Da! But first, forward glorious cart!"

The sentry gun is history, and the splash damage means there's an angry Engineer up ahead with his shotgun ready. "Oh, I am gonna lay you out," the Texan snarls, and starts firing.

(The Medic has been through this before. Teja gets to be on the receiving end of a medigun beam now. Mostly so that Medic doesn't take the Engineer's hits, but still.)

Teja gets out his own shotgun, aims at where the fire is coming from, and starts firing, also.

He does not doubt the beam which the Medic is turning on him; it would be some sort of support, would it not?

The Medic is focused on the Soldier, and the Soldier is focused on the enemy Engineer.

Nobody's paying much attention to either of the Pyros.

Or to the girl in the RED Scout uniform crouched on the cliff up above.

At least, not until she jumps off the cliff with a roar of rage, baseball bat at the ready, aimed directly at Mia's head.

Mia tries firing upward, but it takes too long and now she's got a Scout on top of her. That she's....already killed? It's disorienting enough that by the time she tried to fight back, she's taken one too many hits already. She's done for.

At least until she respawns with a vague, "What?" Guess this world is more like hers than she thought.

She starts to make her way back, her mind slowly starting to wonder why she was attacked when there were two BLU Pyros...
