BLU operations in the area have met with horrific resistance from RED of late. Steps, as they say, had to be taken. When the intelligence reports last filched from under RED's nose indicated the RED team had concentrated vast quantities of infrastructure in a single location accessible by rail from an old, forgotten BLU listening post...

Well. Who are the BLU field operatives to ignore an opportunity dropped in their lap?

Time for some serious mayhem.

Teja sees the doors, and knows what they mean.

He remembers Charlie being hurt when the doors where here last; but he also remembers what Will and Doc said.

He steps through the blue door with the full intention of visiting some mayhem upon that strange world.

Nobody dies anyway.

He steps through, and looks around.

It's a sterile-looking locker and supply room, smelling strongly of antiseptic. There are a number of men in varying types of blue clothing milling about. One- a fellow Teja may well remember- makes his way over from where he'd been talking to his peers. "Guten abend," he says with a faint smile. "May I be of assistance?"

"Greetings!" Teja says. "I have seen you in Milliways! And you may indeed help me -- I would fight, but lack the weapons used in this world."

"Happily zere is no difficulty amending your situation," says the Medic, gesturing towards a line of lockers along a nearby wall. "As today ve haf every intention of destroying a major RED installation, ze munitions lockers are full to ze brim." He considers the other man's build. "Alzough... hmm. Haf you a preference as to ze sort of fighting you intend zis day?"

"I would fight outright, and do damage!" Teja says. "Friends of mine ought here before; after some bewilderment, I thought: - it might be fun!"

Pause.

"I am a fighter."

"Spoken like a true Soldier," says the Medic, nodding firmly. He reaches for the door to one of the lockers. "Haf you any experience with firearms, by any chance? Ze shotgun und ze rocket launcher should be simple enough to operate."

"My friend CJ taught me to handle them, some while ago," Teja says. "I have not fought a war with them, but I shall not be worried by the recoil."

"Ze recoil is not nearly as much of a concern as vun might sink," says the Medic, holding up a rocket launcher. "Alzough I should not fire if I stood too close to a wall, were I you. On ze ozzer hand, Herr Soldier has found zat holding ze launcher properly und pointing it at ze ground before firing provides plenty of thrust; I haf to repair his ankles often, but ze flights he achieves are worth it, or so he tells me."

"Flight!" Teja says, interested. "Oh!"

He holds his hands out for the rocket launcher, almost eager.

"Not in here!" says the Medic with a smile. "Outside, I sink, you'll get your chance. Today we escort a high explosive payload to its destination, but ze tracks pass under quite a bit of scrutiny. Claim ze high ground und enough Reds will come to you to satisfy any man's bloodlust."

"Ach, but I forget. Here is ze uniform, und ze helmet, und ze shotgun und entrenching tool. Herr Soldier keeps ze edges sharp in case a Red needs to be shortened by several inches."

Teja runs is finger along the edge of the shovel.

"Good!" he says. "I like that -- this is a good tool. It will be good to fight with it, also. Where may I change?"

The Medic waves a hand vaguely towards the far corner of the room. "Over zere, out of ze vay, or in vun of ze bathroom stalls if you insist upon privacy," he says. "Herr Pyro uses zem all ze time for zat."

"Bathroom stall," Teja says; he is odd that way.

Three minutes later, he emerges, attired in a blue uniform, helmet on his head, and hair tied back.

"I am attired," he says. "Now, where shall I start?"

"As soon as ze siren sounds," says the Medic, "und ze cart begins rolling. It von't be long."

Teja nods.

"May I do anything for my weapons, until then?" he says.

Taking good care of one's equipment is ever important.

"Nein, not likely. Herr Soldier has already seen to zeir care," says the Medic. "But be sure of your ammunition first, hmm? Herr Engineer can only erect his dispensers as quickly as he can run."

"So I need to carry enough," Teja nods. "I shall be moving, and not have a shield-bearer, or one to hand me spears, as in the old times."

He starts checking the pouches on his belt, and the pockets about his uniform. "Were will I find more?"

"Here, or in vun of ze buildings along ze vay," says the Medic. "Votever you use, ze Reds don't, so feel free to use votever you find, hmm? Und zere are some depots along ze vay, little caches left by Scouts or Spies; you can't miss zem. Barring zat, find Herr Engineer-" He points at a man in a yellow hard hat. "Und see vhere he puts his dispensers."

"Good," Teja says. "That will be fairly easy."

Pause.

"And if I am hit too badly, I shall be restarted some way back -- is that right?"

"Ja. Ze respawn transponders are integrated into ze uniform," says the Medic. "Zere may be a five-second delay, but nossing more zan zat- you should find yourself here or in vun of ze ozzer rooms claimed by BLU along ze vay."

"So if we claim a room further on" -- note the 'we'! -- "I would not have to go all the way back when I die temporarily?" Teja asks.

Die temporarily -- that is an odd concept, but after having spoken to Will and Doc from last time, Teja is willing to trust it.

"Nein. Not unless we fare so badly zat ze payload travels backwards und ve lose ground," says the Medic. "But zen ve haf ozzer difficulties, don't ve."

"Indeed," Teja says. "We would be losing the battle."

Pause.

"It is the same for the red ones, also, is it not -- when they die, they wake again at their starting points?"

The Medic nods. "Who stole ze respawning technology from whom, I couldn't say," he mutters, "but- ja, both sides haf it so."

Teja nods, also. "That means I need not worry, should I meet one I know from Milliways," he says.

He would not shoot Charlie, or Will, or Doc, if they are along again, but all else shall not be spared. This is almost a game, and this time, surely, none would enter that do not know what the doors mean, so all here have chosen to play, as Teja has.

You do not spare your opponent's chessmen, either.
