Map: Badwater Basin. Payload.

BLU operations in the area have met with horrific resistance from RED of late. Steps, as they say, had to be taken. When the intelligence reports last filched from under RED's nose indicated the RED team had concentrated vast quantities of infrastructure in a single location accessible by rail from an old, forgotten BLU listening post...

Well. Who are the BLU field operatives to ignore an opportunity dropped in their lap?

Time for some serious mayhem.

Teja is hit, but not mortally yet; he is trained to disregard such pain while fighting.

He shoots another rocket after the first.

The stylishness of Tyler's borrowed tie is not immediately apparent, because he's invisible.

Also, coming up on the trigger rocket nut.

How sharp is Teja's hearing anyway? Those rockets have to do something in the way of covering noise for an approaching Spy.

That rocket? She can't dodge.

KABOOM.

Are there sniper parts flying through the air? Teja peers at where his rocket hit.

It seems so. Good. One less.

He does not hear the spy, though.

Stabity! goes the knife and Tyler takes off.

His disguise as a BLU spy reduces the number of automatic things trying to kill him.

Like that does much good.

Teja turns and sends a salvo from his shotgun after the fleeing spy; but then, the shot from the sniper and the stab together are too much for him, and he dies again.

All goes dark.-

"Ah, crap!" says the Scout, who happened to catch sight of the biggest slowpoke of the bunch slowing down. (Heavy doesn't count. The man might be a walking wall, but he can run pretty good for a fatty when he hasn't got that gun of his spun up.) "Hey! You! I'm gonna beat on your skull 'till I hit tonsils!"

There's a streak of blue and silver headed for the Spy. If it's a BLU spy for real and something went wrong, well, no harm done- the bat won't even touch him. If it's a disguise... tonsil time.

Tyler's backpedaling, drawing his pistol and really looking for some supporting fire please.

...Damn. Lying vigorously it is.

"Zhe bastard cloaked on me! He's got to be here zomewhere!"

Oh, this is gonna to hurt.

Well, someone here's getting supporting fire, at least.

"Scooooooout! I am comingggggg!" he calls, jogging up with Sasha in tow.

No, no you can't. So, so going to hurt.

It takes a place, like Milliways, to make you miss friendly fire accidents. When the Heavy starts building a horizontal wall of lead it's time to run at them and try and pretend to be that Heavy, if he can get close enough to make telling them apart tricky.

So, so, so, going to hurt.

"Heavy is Spy!" the Heavy calls, seeing him change, and spins up his gun to follow his double with the aforementioned wall of lead. "Heavy is Spy!"

"Not for much longer he ain't!" the Scout answers, coming in hard and fast with his bat at the Heavy who isn't firing the minigun. "Disguise this, ya shapeshiftin' rat!"

Tyler is (choose one):

A) Running like hell.
B) Hammering at the watch controls for the cloak.
C) Swearing vigorously.

D) All of the above while still looking like the Heavy.

Artemis has been off trying to figure out how best to use his weapon...really. It has nothing to do with the fact all the fire power that is at play on this field is way beyond what his world can produce.

Regardless, he is here now and dropping a few grenades from a level above in the hopes of drawing fire away from the idiot fellow RED down there who blow his cover.

"AUGH!" yells the Scout, and very soon, to quote another Demoman entirely- "Oh look! It's raining him!"

Heavy, looks like it's down to you now.

The back on that soldier was right there Artemis. What was he supposed to do?

It's not a complete charge, but Tyler's translucent, then a second later, invisible.

Not that this stops Heavy from going to town on Tyler during that second of transition. Maybe it's more the pieces of Tyler that disappear? It's hard to say.

You can practically hear the March of the Valkyries behind the Heavy as he charges forward, Sasha blaring, bullets spitting out at an ungodly rate.

It's time to make a last stand, and he's taking as many REDs as he can down.

There's still a sentry on the roof and, much closer, a Soldier that's rocket jumping straight up. He's planning on using his height advantage to rain death from above on them all.

At regular ground level, a Pyro with a Medic's crackling medigun on him (her?) is racing forward. The Uber hasn't been triggered, but that's only because the Pyro isn't quite in range.

Yet.

Re: Payload it Forward

[identity profile] hands-of-blu.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Not good, any of it; the Medic is all too aware of their chances right now. On the other hand, he knows what's worked in the past to keep him alive, and that's keeping larger, more imposing members of his team alive. Which is why the medigun beam latches onto the Heavy immediately. "Not much longer, mein friend," he calls. "Keep going!"

There aren't a lot of times when the Engineers have the right idea, but any Soldier will tell you that what this sort of situation needs is more gun.

Mad laughter and rockets for everyone!

[identity profile] uncloakndagger.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
The Pyro laughs evilly through the gas mask as the Medic hits the charge. The pair charge forward, glinting metallic red and spewing flames everywhere.

No quick dashes here, no disorienting run-bys. The Pyro knows they're invulnerable and is going to use that to the maximum advantage.

"Sorry, that's my line!" is Mia's muffled call back to the RED Pyro before she sends him flying with an air blast.

[identity profile] uncloakndagger.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, son of a-

The Pyro goes flying backwards, nearly over and past the Medic. The shotgun gets switched out and the shells start flying immediately.

Up on the roof, the sentry has sighted its new target and launches four rockets and a spray of bullets.
