It seems like a perfectly sensible sort of place: pale blue walls, tile flooring, fluorescent lighting high overhead, lockers. There's even a pinup calendar.

But a close look shows the equipment locker to contain more ammunition than some Third World countries use in a month, and the same personal locker that has the small flowered purse in it has a note about asbestos stuck to the door, and the air has that faint tang of antiseptic scrub that only really happens when vast quantities of the stuff are used to wipe out every other smell possible. And a peek out the big, garage-like door reveals what looks not unlike the inside of a barn, save for the weathered Builders League United logo on the wall...

[OOC: This is the BLU side's initial post for the Team Fortress 2 plot. If you want to play on RED, stop by [livejournal.com profile] battin1000. Orientation takes place here and when people get in on both sides we'll have the actual war post. Consult the 2fort Team Fortress 2 wiki page to get an idea of the grounds we'll be playing on!]

"...the door was blue. That would make sense. Medic?"

Please let this be the one I know.

The Medic draws a hand over his face. "Mein Gott. Guten morgen, Doc; you come at a very bad time. Ze Reds vill be attacking any minute now und I haf no time to try to find a vay back."

"Attackin'?"

Eyebrow goes up, and Doc glances around. There's no obvious door with the bar on the other side, so he nods. "Alright, then. What can I do t'help?"

"Put on vun of ze spare uniforms und I'll show you how to use ze corresponding veapons," says the Medic. "Mein apologies about ze clothing but ve haf a habit of shooting people out of uniform first und in ze enemy colors second."

"Got it."

Doc goes to one of the lockers and grabs a BLU uniform, and with a bit of fiddling with it, gets suited up to 'standard', and really wishing he had his guns.

The Medic eyes the uniform chosen and says, "I hope you can run as fast as ze clothes vould indicate, Doc; you've chosen ze get-up of a scout. Here is ze corresponding veaponry."

The first thing handed over is a rather short double-barreled shotgun; the second, a snubby-looking pistol; the third, a metallic baseball bat.

"Mind ze cone of fire on ze scattergun, you're far deadlier up close zan at any sort of distance."

Doc takes the shotgun and nods. "Just like usin' a sawed off back home," he muses, looking it over before he takes the pistol, and that is easy enough to figure out. The bat is self explanatory.

A wry smile.

"And yeah, I'm pretty quick. Just what're the...rules, I guess?"

"Anyvun not vearing team colors is fair game," says the Medic. "Anyvun vearing team colors und acting strangely, such as an Engineer not fixing his equipment or anozzer Medic failing to use his medigun, may be a spy in disguise und is fair game for vun strike. If you find ze intelligence room of ze enemy und his briefcase full of papers, fetch it back to our own room as fast as you can und let nossink stop you."

It's remarkably simple, when it comes right down to it.

"How big is outside? I mean...what's out there?"

Doc 'sights' the shotgun, not aiming it at Medic of course, and testing the weight in his hands. It is remarkably simple. Shoot the other team. Doc's pretty damn good at that.

"Our headquarters, a moat und a covered bridge, und zeir headquarters," says the Medic. "Ze buildings are very nearly mirrors of each ozzer, und vun may get in via ze bridge or ze sewers. Or ze roof of ze bridge, if you run as fast und double-jump as our usual Scout does."

"I'm...not sure if I can jump that high." Plus he's not sure if being in Medic's world means he has more powers or abilities. So naturally, Doc decides to test this, by running across the locker room.

Well, he's faster than he has any right to be; that might be part of the uniform, or some kind of adrenaline rush, or something. Medic, however, eyes his performance with a dry expression. "Not quite as fast as our usual," he says, "but close enough. You might even manage to reach ze bridge roof if you jump from ze sniper nest, but I vouldn't recommend trying."
